Welcome to The Temple Bar!
In the heart of San Francisco’s Inner Sunset, The Temple Bar is a new beginning built on old roots. For us, this bar is more than just a business—it’s a homecoming.
From 2005 to 2008
We ran this space as The Blackthorn, creating a lively, welcoming spot where neighbors became friends over great pints and good craic. In 2008, we purchased the building and stepped back, leasing out the business for the next 16 years. But the pull of this place never left us.
We returned
So in 2024, we returned—not just to reclaim it, but to completely transform it. With a full renovation and a fresh vision, The Temple Bar is something entirely new while still holding onto the heart and hospitality that made this space special in the first place.
The beginning
Our story begins far from San Francisco, in the small village of Clashmore in Waterford, Ireland. There, the pub is the soul of the community—a place where stories are shared, laughter is loud, and everyone is welcome. That’s exactly what we’ve brought to The Temple Bar: a warm, inviting space where the drinks are poured right, the conversations flow freely, and the spirit of Ireland lives on.
With 21 beers on tap, we have something for every taste—from hoppy IPAs and crisp lagers to smooth pilsners and, of course, the famous black stuff—Guinness. Whiskey lovers will feel right at home with our wide selection of Irish, Scotch, American, and Japanese whiskeys, alongside American bourbon, tequila, vodka, and mezcal for those looking for something different.
